Equestrian-centric services

Equestrians have a unique need for accurate and contiguous proprioception, mobility, range of motion, and balance. When the rider is out of balance in their own body, it can reflect as poor riding performance or restrictions in the horse's mobility.

If you want your wellness plan to primarily focus on your riding performance, consider booking a rider observation for your next session.

The Process

Evaluation Series (Equine)

You can schedule your first session using the "book now" button or by contacting Mary directly. Typically, this first appointment takes 3 hours and encompasses a brief medical history, paperwork, time for an observational ride, and a comprehensive full-body session. If you book online, please include an address in the "notes" section.

If you do not provide an address where the appointment will be completed and we are unable to reach you, your appointment will be canceled.

New clients are required to complete the evaluation series, which includes your initial evaluation and 3 additional follow-up appointments booked within the following two weeks. We find this allows clients to reach optimal outcomes and gets their fascial systems over the "hump" of adjusting to myofascial work. An observational ride prior to your first session and after your last session in this series are included and encouraged.

Maintenance Sessions (Equine)

After the evaluation series (4 appointments in total) have been completed, you and your therapist will discuss how best to transition to a "maintenance" schedule. This varies for each client, and your therapist will suggest a schedule best for you depending on how your body is adjusting to sessions and modalities. Typically, clients move to once a week for 1-2 sessions, then move to 10 days, then 2-3 weeks between sessions. Many clients reach a point to be on an "as needed" basis.

Observational rides are welcomed, however are not required for each maintenance session. If you would like an observational ride with your session, please allow for an extra 45 minutes per appointment and an additional fee.

Commonly Asked Questions

What's the difference between equestrian sessions and regular client sessions?

The only difference for equestrian sessions is the addition of an observed ride, if desired. This is an add-on service to both an evaluation series and maintenance sessions. Keep in mind that observing you ride does add time to your overall appointment.

What's an observational ride?

It means you get an audience of one to watch you ride! An observational ride is so your therapist can focus on observing how you move with your horse, identify possible restrictions that are impeding certain success in maneuvers or gaits, and allow dedicated time to focus on these components to better build your wellness plan and reach your riding goals.

As an equestrian client, do I still have access to acute sessions?

Yes, although observational rides cannot be added to these sessions.
